Craniosacral therapy
Approach and technique of Cranio Sacral Therapy (CST)
The therapist gathers information through gentle touches on the head and
along the spine, information about possible movement patterns

The goal of craniosacral therapy is to stimulate the body's self-healing powers.
to activate the body and correct functional limitations.
By releasing tension and blockages, balance is restored in the craniosacral system, which can have positive effects on the central nervous system, the vascular system, and the hormone-regulating glands. CST is suitable for people of all ages – from newborns to older adults.
Targeted exercises, adapted to the patient's daily routine and individual abilities, serve to lower stress levels. This enables the body to activate its self-healing powers and strengthens the patient's sense of self-efficacy.
Application areas
-
Head and facial pain: Relief from headaches,
Migraines, facial pain, and chronic conditions
Complaints following falls or surgeries in the area of
Spine and head. -
Neurological trauma: Treatment after
Traumatic brain injury (TBI), falls onto the head, tailbone or
Spine support and assistance with birth trauma. -
Sinusitis, allergies and immune support: Treatment
secondary blockages in the head area, e.g. in chronic
Rhinitis or sinusitis, as well as positive effects on the
Immune system. -
Ear and hearing problems: Support for earaches (e.g. in children), tinnitus, dizziness and hearing disorders.
-

-
Learning and behavioral disorders: Support for children and adolescents with ADHD, concentration difficulties, and reading and spelling difficulties.
-
Jaw and eye problems: Relief from tension in the jaw joint, facial pain caused by tight hairstyles or glasses, and postural problems that strain the craniosacral system.
Scientific studies on the effectiveness of craniosacral therapy
A controlled study from 2011 investigated the effectiveness of craniosacral therapy (CST) in patients with chronic neck pain. This study showed significant improvements in pain intensity, mobility, and quality of life after just a few CST sessions compared to the control group, which received a sham treatment. A meta-analysis from 2016 also demonstrated that CST can be an effective treatment method for chronic pain, particularly migraines and tension headaches, reducing pain and associated limitations. By activating the body's self-healing mechanisms, craniosacral therapy offers an effective and non-invasive alternative or complement to conventional pain therapy and can contribute sustainably to improved well-being.
